What are the different types of marijuana?

Indica, Sativa and Hybrid

There are two main types of cannabis that is available; Sativa and Indica. Depending on which you choose, will determine the overall effects you experience. Each has their unique characteristics and grow patterns. The sativa effect is often labeled as uplifting and energetic. Effects of a sativa strain are mostly cerebral. Giving a feeling of cheerfulness and content. The indica effect are most often characterized as a gratifying body buzz. Indicas are great for relaxation, stress relief, or an overall sense of calm and serenity. Cannabis indica strains are highly effective for overall body pain relief, and have proved to be a great treatment for insomnia. Indicas are great for evening medication of many smokers as a sleep aid. Depending on the ratio of indica to sativa, a hybrid can have qualities like pain relief or appetite stimulation, without the drowsiness that indica’s are known for. Conversely, a sativa-dominant hybrid brings mental clarity without the anxiety or raciness that can occur.

What methods of consuming are available?

Smoking 

Cannabis can be smoked with accessories such as bongs and pipes —if needed, a makeshift pipe can be created out of an apple (or any other suitable fruit or vegetable) — or by rolling a joint or blunt.

 Vaporizing 

A vaporizer heats herbal cannabis or extract to 365–410 °F, which causes the active ingredients to evaporate into a gas without burning any plant material (the boiling point of THC is 315 °F. Oral Consumption 

Food – THC and other cannabinoids are fat soluble meaning that they can dissolve into sugars, oils, butter etc. The time to onset of effects depends strongly on stomach content, but is usually 1 to 2 hours, and may continue for a considerable length of time, whereas the effects of smoking or vaporizing cannabis are almost immediate, lasting a shorter length of time. Drink – Cannabis can be dissolved into high-proof spirits or sugar-based refreshments as well as water based tea or milk-based beverages.

Capsules – For the ultra discreet or calorie conscious. Capsules are a a quick and easy way to stay medicated without dealing with pungent odors or bulky equipment

How much medical marijuana can I possess?

Under Prop. 215, patients are entitled to whatever amount of marijuana is necessary for their personal medical use. However, patients are strongly advised not to exceed the SB 420 guidelines. SB420 sets a baseline statewide guideline of 6 mature or 12 immature plants, and 1/2 pound (8 oz.) processed cannabis per patient. Individual cities and counties are allowed to enact higher, but not lower, limits than the state standard.
